ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer

You will be picked up from the airport by a representative of the oasis safaris. He will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on your time of arrival you can explore Kampala city. You will stay in a nice lodge (Forest Cottages). The hotel has convenient safari style furnished rooms, equipped with satellite TV, fridge, bar, telephone, and fan, designed in harmony with the environment and aiming to fully immerse guests in a forest experience.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today you will begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The long drive is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the exclusive green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda. After about 6 hours’ drive, you stop for lunch in Mbarara town. Have time to walk around town, observe local life and/or visit the Ankole cattle statue. Then you drive 4 more hours to Brode Bill Forest Camp in the middle of the forest, calm and peaceful with a fantastic view of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The camp gives you a warm bottle and fireplace to warm yourself during the harsh conditions in the forest.

Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airstrip by a representative of Oasis Safaris and be dropped in your accommodation for the next two nights. In the lodge, you will have lunch and you will have some time to relax. In the afternoon you will go for your first game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP, Situated on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bush Lodge is an excellent base for safari activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is built along with ecological principals, the bandas designed and spaced in such a way to maximize privacy and enhance the safari aspect of the lodge. It is also affordable and reliable. Expect a great outdoor safari atmosphere, a close to nature experience with excellent food and friendly service.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking

Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain gorilla. For most people, this is the complete highlight of their tour in Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts mountain gorillas. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 bird species. The gorillas tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day.
Your gorilla tracking will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ habitat. En-route, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. The time taken to track the gorillas can take as little as 2 hours to as much as 8 hours before you return! Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly embarrassing and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today after breakfast, your guide will drive you and your party northwards to Queen Elizabeth NP via the Ishasha sector for an afternoon lion game drive in the open savannah on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. You will search for the typical tree climbing lions found only in this part of the Country. It is impressive to see them lying on tree branches. Drive to the Bush Lodge, An excellent base for safari activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is built along with ecological principals, the bandas designed and spaced in such a way to maximize privacy and enhance the safari aspect of the lodge. It is also affordable and authentic. Expect a great outdoor safari atmosphere, a close to nature experience with excellent food and friendly service.

Day 5: Kazinga Channel wildlife viewing, Boat Cruise and Game Drive

After breakfast, the day starts with an early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queen’s mile tracks in the park and you will be able to see lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, spotted hyena, mongoose, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, Topi and a lot of small animals and birds. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, a good place for bird watching as you will be able to see many water birds like cormorants, pelicans, eagles among others as well as crocodiles, hippos, elephants and buffaloes.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Take your time and have a good breakfast before your tour manager drives you northwards via Fort Portal and later Kibale Forest National Park with packed lunch. Optionally, when you get to Kibale, you embark on an evening walk through Bigodi swamp and view some of nature’s gift through the swamp. Then drive to the Primate Lodge an exclusive eco-lodge situated in the heart of Kibale Forest National Park. The lodge has about 8 lavish safari tents, 7 friendly cottages secretly located in the forest, Restaurant and bar serving international and local food, and a cultural fire dancing place where evenings are usually enjoyed to give you all the warmth you need.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking

Today you will experience some serious chimpanzee business! Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of primate species in the world, including the chimpanzees. Approximately 5,000 chimpanzees live in the wild in Uganda, which makes it a perfect place to spot them! An experienced ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning or afternoon; you might also see other primate species that live here. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour of eye-to-eye contact with them.
Tracking Time: Less an hour or even more about 7 hours

Day 8: Transfer back to Kampala/ Entebbe

After mealtime at the lodge, you will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe (Airport) stopping at the equator for the essential snapshot and a bit of souvenir shopping.
